At the ninth session of the UNECE Working Party on Public-Private Partnerships (WP-PPP), held in Geneva on 24 and 25 November 2025, the Serbian delegation presented contemporary insights into how emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, can improve public services through PPP models.
Technological solutions are constantly evolving, but their real impact depends on how they are introduced into public institutions and systems. Public-private partnerships have been recognised as one of the key mechanisms that enable innovation to become part of sustainable, modern and accessible public services.
“The more replicable projects are, the wider the scope for applying artificial intelligence becomes. Broader AI application increases PPP efficiency, while more efficient PPPs allow societies to make faster progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals. The specific technologies used to address public challenges are not decisive; they will continue to evolve in any case. What matters is that PPP remains one of the key tools enabling new technologies to enter public institutions and public services and directly support the Sustainable Development Goals. My conclusion is that artificial intelligence is certainly not yet capable of doing an expert’s job, but it can be extremely useful to someone who possesses expert knowledge. Experts determine what is valid, which methodologies should be applied and whether the conclusions make sense,” Jelena Tadić emphasised.
Serbia’s participation in this year’s WP-PPP session once again confirmed its active contribution to the global dialogue on modernising public services and strengthening sustainable infrastructure through innovation and public-private cooperation.
